FRIENDS OF HOCKEY HISTORY

2020 GEORGE BAUMANN FRIENDS OF HOCKEY RECIPIENT

It is with great honor that the WHCA recognize Rusty Mitch as its 2020 recipient of the George Baumann Friends of Hockey award.  Rusty played youth, high school and college hockey in Stevens Point.  He began his coaching career at Stevens Point Pacelli with stops at UW Stevens Point, SPASH and finally at Pacelli as the head coach.  Since retiring from coaching Rusty has continued to support the WHCA as a major sponsor (Portesi Pizza) of the annual WHCA State Tournament banquet.


2018 GEORGE BAUMANN FRIENDS OF HOCKEY AWARD

The 2017-2018 recipient of the George Baumann Friends of Hockey Award is Pat McDonald from Wisconsin Rapids.  Pat was recognized for his commitment to Wisconsin High School hockey players, it's coaches and for his leadership with the Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association and its mission to promote high school hockey in the state of Wisconsin. 


2017 GEORGE BAUMANN FRIENDS OF HOCKEY RECIPIENT ANNOUNCED

Dr. Conrad Andringa a Madison area physician was award the 2017 George Baumann Friends of Hockey Award.  Dr. Andringa has volunteered at local games for nearly 40 years, has been a member of the WIAA Medical Advisory committee for nearly 40 years, was the team physician for the 1976 Bob Johnson coached Olympic team and a true fan of Wisconsin High School hockey.

2016 GEORGE BAUMANN FRIENDS OF HOCKEY AWARD

Eau Claire native and current Wisconsin assistant coach Luke Strand was named the recipient of this year's George Baumann Friends of Hockey award for his commitment to develop Wisconsin high school players and coaches along with his willingness to collaborate with the WHCA to promote high school hockey in the state of Wisconsin


2015 GEORGE BAUMANN FRIENDS OF HOCKEY AWARD

This years George Baumann Friends of Hockey Award was presented to American Family Insurance for their many years of committement and support of high school hockey in the state of Wisconsin.
